Teaching Sexuality Education
Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), often referred to as sexuality education, is an important consideration when developing learning programs for young people. Young people have a human right to access accurate age-appropriate inclusive information on bodies, sexuality, safety, relationships and sexual health.
What is Comprehensive Sexuality Education?
Comprehensive Sexuality education covers a broad range of topics which relate to physical, biological, emotional & social aspects of sexuality. It views sexuality holistically as part of healthy child development. Specific topics are delivered at times to reflect the child or young person's age and stage of development.
Sexuality education supports children and young people to develop skills and knowledge to keep them safe and to develop respectful relationships, make informed choices and recognise their rights and those of others. Comprehensive programs which run over several years are more effective than topics delivered in isolation.
