We were thrilled to be part of Queensland Health's Cairns Women & Girls' Health Showcase on May 8th at the beautiful Hilton Cairns! Our TRUE team members joined healthcare professionals, community organisations, researchers, and consumers for a day of learning and sharing – all focused on improving health outcomes for women and girls across Queensland.

The showcase centered around three important themes: prevention and creating new care pathways; hospital-based care; and education and workforce development – with special attention on the unique needs of rural, remote, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Our TRUE team was delighted to contribute in several meaningful ways:

Katherine W led an engaging session on "Traffic Lights: Identifying, understanding and responding to sexual behaviours in young people." She shared practical, supportive approaches that help professionals distinguish between healthy sexual development and behaviours that might need additional guidance or intervention.

Jessica T and Erin M warmly introduced attendees to our "Statewide Peer Support Program for Menopause," showcasing how connecting women with shared experiences creates supportive communities where they can find understanding, resources, and friendship during this significant life transition.

Erin M also facilitated thoughtful discussions on "Pregnancy Options and Culture," exploring how we can all become trusted, safe supports for women making pregnancy decisions in rural and remote Queensland communities. Her presentation highlighted TRUE's ongoing commitment to ensuring all Queenslanders have access to respectful, culturally appropriate reproductive health services.

These sessions reflect TRUE's friendly, accessible approach to sexual and reproductive health education and support. The Cairns Showcase gave us a wonderful opportunity to share our knowledge while also learning from others about emerging needs and creative approaches to women's health.

We came away feeling energised and inspired! TRUE remains committed to supporting women and girls through prevention, education, and accessible care that respects diverse cultural backgrounds and the unique needs of communities across Queensland.
