True launches Relationship Ready for teachers

Online Relationship and Sexuality Education training modules for teachers are now available. True has developed a series of free resources for all Queensland teachers and support staff to help facilitate Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE).

RSE provides children and young people with knowledge and skills to understand their bodies, make healthy choices, and form respectful relationships, BUT teaching this topic can present unique challenges. True's Relationship Ready program is FREE for all teachers and offers:

  • Self-paced online modules with content and support for delivering RSE in the classroom
  • Live 2 hour webinar training sessions delivered via Zoom.

With True's self-paced online training modules, teachers and staff can learn how to deliver comprehensive, inclusive RSE. Packed full of resources, each module incudes lesson content and plans, activities and videos and covers:

  • How to Facilitate RSE
  • Puberty Education
  • Safer Sex: Protection
  • Contraception and Consent Education
  • Sexually transmissible infections and sexual health checks and
  • Sexuality and technology (coming soon).

True's live online training sessions offer ways to become confident and grow your confidence in facilitating RSE with children and young people. It also improves capability by demonstrating how to respond to difficult questions and create a safe inclusive classroom.

Teachers can now be confident delivering RSE as part of the Australian Curriculum. Attend the Relationship Ready 2 hour online training session delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Week 6 to 9 of Term 1, 2021, or register for the self-paced training modules available now.

Previous participants have found the training empowering and encouraging. 99% of 2020 participants rated the session excellent or good.

“I wish more teachers knew about this course and did it. (It) should be compulsory PD regardless of age of students you teach or subject areas you teach. Great PD, I learnt so much and will now put this into practice.”

“This was a really useful session for educators with some great practical tips to take away.”

This is an opportunity to learn from an organisation with over 45 years of experience delivering RSE into classrooms. Find out how to respond to challenging questions, access quality resources, create a safe space for your class (and yourself) and get an understanding of the long term impact RSE can have on a young person.

True’s Relationship Ready professional development is designed to empower teachers to deliver quality, comprehensive relationship and sexuality education (RSE) in their school community and to address the unique barriers to delivery. The project materials are reviewed and supported by the Queensland Departments of Education and Queensland Health.

True Relationships & Reproductive Health (formerly Family Planning Queensland) has been delivering education to schools for over 45 years with its All Schools RSE Program. This package complements the Department of Education's Respectful Relationships education program available to all schools.
