About the role

The On-Call Support Worker provides support and information to adults who have been sexually assaulted or had occurred intimate partner violence; this response is via a 24-hour on-call roster system.

The on-call support worker will respond to individuals who have experienced sexual assault and present to an emergency department. The on-call worker will provide social support, safety planning, advice and advocacy, coordination of medical care and forensic examination for evidence collection

 

Selection criteria: 

  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing survivors of sexual violence and current issues in the area of sexual assault, including relevant legislation.
  • Experience or willingness to provide crisis support.
  • Knowledge of interagency protocols in relation to responding to sexual assault.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide appropriate and timely written case notes.
  • High level resilience to fulfill the demands of the role.
