True's Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Clinic

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition affecting up to 18% of Australian women of reproductive age. Symptoms may include excess hair, acne, irregular periods, fertility issues, weight gain, anxiety and depression. There is a long term increased risk of prediabetes and diabetes.

True’s expert female clinicians have extensive knowledge and experience in assessing and assisting in the long- term management and education of women with PCOS. Our clinicians are trained to identify the wide spectrum of symptoms in women with PCOS, despite these symptoms not all being present at the same time. They understand that treatment must be tailored to the individual needs and concerns of each woman and will offer advice to help achieve healthy lifestyle adjustments. Another important role is offering women education regarding PCOS and its long term health impacts.

Women may self-refer or be referred by their GP for assessment, diagnosis, education and management of PCOS. This may include women who have already been diagnosed with PCOS. Our clinicians will work closely with the referring GP to tailor a program to manage PCOS.

Appointments can be made by contacting our local clinic directly. GP referrals should be accompanied by a letter indicating the reason for the referral and include copies of any previous relevant investigations e.g. pelvic ultrasound, hormonal assays, glucose tolerance test, E/LFT. These investigations are not required for acceptance of referral.

If you wish to discuss a PCOS referral with a medical or nursing officer, please call True on 3250 0200.
