A Successful Day at the Safer Futures Symposium

Safer Futures Symposium

We had an incredible day hosting the Safer Futures Symposium in partnership with WorkUP Queensland at Voco, Brisbane.

This full-day event was opened by our CEO, Karen Struthers, and WorkUP Qld Executive Manager & The Healing Foundation COO, Nicola Gotovac. It brought together various sectors, all aiming to address the challenges faced by vulnerable youth in their relationships. A day filled with networking, collaboration, and enlightening talks from our esteemed speakers.

We appreciate everyone who participated in the discussions and shared their expertise. Our presenters included representatives from our organisation, Annie Shewring, and Simone Jones, and from Children by Choice, Brisbane Youth Service, IFYS, Ethni, Trent Savill from Complex Care, Bianca Blackmore, Charlotte Dirou, and Melissa Rowland from Women’s Health & Equality Queensland (WHEQ), Dean Cooper, Griffith University MATE Bystander Program, Emeritus Professor Helen Cahill, ANROWS, and many others. Brooke Blurton delivered a keynote speech that wrapped up the enriching day.

The symposium underscored our commitment to shaping young people's perspectives, breaking cycles of violence, and fostering positive outcomes for future generations. We extend our gratitude to WorkUP for partnering with us on this insightful and forward-thinking event dedicated to the future of our youth.
