We help those who work in the multicultural sector support others with their sexual health and relationship wellbeing.

Multicultural Support at True

True is committed to supporting people from all ages, cultures and backgrounds when it comes to healthy relationships and reproductive and sexual health. We understand that many people from multicultural backgrounds often face challenges and varying levels of access to relationships and sexuality education and general health care education. Our Multicultural teams  comprised of our bicultural/bilingual health educators work across the state to bridge this gap. We do this by delivering tailored, accessible health education for diverse groups across Queensland.  We also deliver group training and online professional development courses to equip healthcare professionals, interpreters and translators, and those working in the community and education sectors with the knowledge and skills to provide culturally responsive services and care.

Health In My Language (HIML)

Health in My Language (HIML) aims to improve access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information for migrant and refugee women in Australia. Originally launched in 2022 to address COVID-19 vaccine literacy, the program evolved in 2024 to become a national SRH initiative.

Supported by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health and the Commonwealth Government, HIML now employs bilingual health educators across Australia to deliver culturally relevant SRH education, with True as the Queensland partner. This phase aligns with a 2023 Senate Committee recommendation to enhance equitable access to reproductive healthcare.

Niu Vaka Wellness Project

In 2025, our PALM Bilingual Health Education team led the Niu Vaka Wellness Project (Niu Vaka), a project funded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

Niu Vaka aims to create a comprehensive and standardised SRH education program for PALM participants. Development of this standardised SRH education program involved gaining insights from Pacific Island countries Member Associations (MAs) to understand and identify gaps and challenges regarding current SRH resources and education delivered to PALM participants pre-departure.

By addressing these critical issues, we can enhance the overall well-being of PALM workers and ensure they have the necessary resources to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.

The project was jointly delivered by Family Planning Alliance Australia and True Relationships and Reproductive Health.
