We’re excited to share highlights from The Great Race 2025, where education met excitement in a day designed to build essential life skills among young people.

Julie from CSAS and Katherine from Education represented our organisation at this vibrant community event, engaging with participants through an interactive educational stall focused on consent education.

Key Learning Outcomes:

Our approach centered on the FRIES model of consent - Freely Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, and Specific. Through carefully designed scenarios, participants explored real-world situations that helped them understand consent as an ongoing, mutual process built on respect and communication.

The interactive format encouraged young people to develop confidence in expressing boundaries, recognise healthy relationship dynamics, and identify both concerning behaviors and positive signs in relationships. The session equipped participants with practical frameworks for navigating complex social situations.

Community Impact:

The event successfully combined education with engagement, creating an environment where important conversations could happen naturally. Participants demonstrated genuine enthusiasm for learning when the content was relevant and interactive.

Beyond the educational component, The Great Race 2025 fostered teamwork, resilience, and communication skills through various activities that balanced learning with fun and friendly competition.

Looking Forward:

The positive response from participants reinforces the value of innovative approaches to youth education. Young people left the event with enhanced knowledge, practical tools, and increased confidence - outcomes that will benefit them in their daily relationships and interactions.

Events like The Great Race 2025 demonstrate the importance of creating spaces where learning meets real-world application, and we look forward to continuing this important work in our community.
