Manager - Cairns Sexual Assault Service

Cairns Sexual Assault Service (CSAS) is looking for an experienced Manager to lead and manage our team of Allied health professionals who provide counselling services to adults within the wider Cairns community who have experienced sexual abuse/violence.

True is a pro-choice organisation and is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. As the Manager – Cairns Sexual Assault Service (CSAS) you will:

  • Provide line management and line supervision to CSAS staff.
  • Manage the service to ensure alliance with True’s mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies.
  • Provide leadership, clinical supervision and service development for CSAS staff.
  • Manage a small case load of clients.

Applicants are required to write a brief cover letter and address the selection criteria including:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work / psychology or alternate tertiary level counselling related field, and eligibility for registration with that respective discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team of staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical supervision and development within a counselling service.
  • Demonstrated experience working, and/or knowledge of working in the area of complex trauma, sexual abuse, sexual assault and sexually reactive behaviours.
  • Demonstrated experience working with, and/or knowledge of, safety planning, protective behaviours and related psycho education.
  • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate legislation, best practice guidelines and knowledge of inter-agency protocols in relation to sexual assault
  • Awareness of key issues in supporting an effective and safe working environment including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, consult, negotiate, problem –solve and resolve conflict.
  • Highly developed communication skills including sound conflict resolution skills and experience in communicating effectively with staff and clients in a stressful, busy environment;
  • Well-developed time management skills with the ability to identify priorities and to multi-task effectively;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and uphold the principles of confidentiality in a highly sensitive environment with the ability to keep and maintain accurate and sensitive records regarding clients, finance, personnel, and client demographics according to legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and skills in, working therapeutically with women, men, children, young people and their non offending family members and/or carers who have been affected by sexual assault.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the provision of education and health promotion activities in relation to sexual assault.
