Teacher professional development

This two day training course provides teachers and school staff with the knowledge, skills and confidence to teach about respectful relationships and to prevent gender based violence within the school community.

This course begins with the basics of Respectful Relationships Education and builds on this knowledge by covering a range of topics including school culture essentials; a whole school community approach; pedagogy for social change; creating and sustaining educational leadership; gender and identity; gender, power and violence; and sexuality related content.

This course is a must for anyone who wishes to create a safe, equal, inclusive, and respectful school culture.

Course content

  • Educates about gender relations and how to maintain respectful, nonviolent relationships
  • Examine and explore national and international evidence and the most current issues and debates in the field
  • Builds staff capacity and confidence in using a range of pedagogical approaches and to identify age appropriate and contextually relevant resources
  • Provides guidance, tools and resources for putting primary prevention strategies in place to create genuine social change

  • Demonstrate expertise in implementing primary prevention strategies across the school community to effect cultural change
