On Tuesday, 25 October 2016, the Cairns Sexual Assault Service will host its annual public forum at the Shangri La Hotel. This year's title is, ‘Lifting the Lid on sexual violence: the context of consent.’  Lifting the Lid will present three perspectives on this topic:

1. A reflection on the relationship between active consent and self-protection (Antonia Quadara, Research Fellow, Australian Institute of Family Studies)

2. The realities of interpretation within the police investigative process (Detective Senior Sergeant Mick Gooiker, Officer in Charge, Cairns District Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Queensland Police Service Detective Senior Sergeant  Edward J. Kinbacher, Officer in Charge, Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch, Queensland Police Service)

3. Sexual Consent Training : Exploring what can be done to proactively address the high rate of sexual assault and harassment in Australia by using the National Rugby League as a case study. (Adair Donaldson, Founder & Director, Donaldson Law)
